The following are people who have passed away. A loved one or friend has made a donation to the Clarity Clinic in their name. Please pray for these Faithful brothers and sisters in Christ that they may Rest in Peace.
Friends at Arbor Oaks Bible Chapel made both a monetary donation and an impressive donation of diapers and baby wipes in honor of one of their dearly loved church members, Ed Weigert.
Ed Weigert was an active supporter of Clarity Clinic, making frequent visits to the clinic to personally deliver the baby items donated from his church. Ed passed away at the age of 85, in Dubuque on September 3, 2023.
Ed attended Mt. Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan University, a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Northern Iowa, and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He worked as a school psychologist for Keystone AEA for 39 years and worked an additional seven years as a school psychologist in Illinois.
He enjoyed visiting fellow church friends at various nursing homes and taking them for drives around the countryside. He and his wife Sue delivered meals for Convivium Urban Farmstead. In his free time, he enjoyed giving tours at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, fishing, boating, walking in parks and feeding birds. He also enjoyed travelling to state and national square-dancing conventions, tours of Alaska, the Grand Tetons, as well as other states and national parks, and trips to Wrigley Field to root for the Chicago Cubs.
Ed’s servant heart and passion for supporting ministries like Clarity Clinic was tremendous. He set a great example for his family, friends and those he fellowshipped with at Arbor Oaks Bible Chapel.
Jerald Friederick made a donation to Clarity Clinic in the name of his mother, Carol Ann Friederick. Carol Ann Friederick, 80, passed away May 18, 2023. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, Wisconsin.
Carol Ann Friederick was born on June 16, 1942, in Springfield, Illinois; she was the beloved daughter of John E. and Mildred C. (Patterson) Mohr. She married Donald L. Friederick on May 2, 1959; he passed away in 2006, after nearly 50 years of marriage. Their legacy continued through their 9 children, 35 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Carol’s joyful spirit and unwavering love for children touched all who she encountered – she advocated for all children, born and unborn. She was the proud aunt to her 100+ nieces and nephews, many of which she had a personal relationship. There are hundreds of other young people whose lives she affected who called her aunt, grandma and mom, regardless of bloodline.
Carol lived each day with vivacity and spirit, never allowing her terminal illness, PSP, to dampen her love for life and adventure. She found joy in her frequent trips to Florida, basking in the sun, and splashing in the beachside pool. Her passion for life, work, and adventure saw her supporting Don’s entrepreneurial endeavors, selling jewelry, and ultimately becoming a licensed insurance broker before her retirement in 2019. Carol’s life revolved around the warmth of human connection; she was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend with an exceptional love for babies and children.
Her legacy is filled with countless memories of her warm hospitality, her irresistible cowboy cookies, her love for the river, and her spirited dancing whenever music played. Many will cherish her kind-hearted nature, willingness to give without hesitation, and her enduring presence at her children and grandchildren’s events. She will be profoundly missed by her family and numerous friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Mark (Kris), Michael (Angela), Michelle “Missy” Johnson, Jeffrey (Cindy), Jerald (Carol), Jennifer (Daniel) Davis, Jason (Janet), Molly (Matt) Szymkowski and Melissa (Sam) Ross, all from Potosi, Wisconsin, and Tony (Erin) Isabelle, who was often considered their tenth child.
Please Pray for Carol Ann, her late husband Donald, and their entire family.

Karen Elaine Clemens
The David Clemens Family has donated to Clarity Clinic in the name of Karen Elaine Clemens. Karen Clemens, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 31, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Peosta.
Karen was born on November 24, 1938 in Littleton, Colorado, daughter of Art and Emma Bast. Karen graduated from Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Dave Clemens on January 29, 1966. She was a Navy wife for a few years until they moved back to Dubuque to raise their family of four children. She had an eye for style, which led her to share her talent working in retail. She also was a meticulous budgeter, which sometimes left her balancing her checkbook for days trying to reconcile a penny. This served her well during her time working at Health Services Credit Union.
Karen enjoyed many hobbies. Golf was one of her favorites. She accomplished two hole-in-ones, and loved to boast about it, much to the envy of her son. Christmas was a favorite holiday of Karen’s. She even created her own Karen’s Favorite Things for her family on Christmas morning. Karen never minded a quick trip to a casino, and usually she had great luck. She was usually a winner at any raffle that she entered. Anyone who knew Karen, knew her talent for telling stories, and she often added her own little embellishment to it for entertainment purposes which her family loved to tease her about. She also very much enjoyed her own sense of humor, much to the delight of all who knew her. Her favorite time, though, was spent with her family, especially at the family Sunday night dinner tradition.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Dave; four children: Jennifer (Dan) Clemens-Conlon, Kevin (Kelly) Clemens, Kristin (Jayme) Kluesner, all of Peosta; and Lisa (Tom) Berger of Epworth. Missing her also will be six grandchildren: Jack, Leo, and Emma Clemens, and Ella, Hanna and Hayden Kluesner, and her loyal dog, Vinnie who never left her side in her last hours. One of the most often words used when describing Karen was classy.
Please pray for Karen and her family.

Helen M. (Gansemer) Schmitt
Mr. Ronald Schmitt has made a donation in memory of his late wife Helen M. (Gansemer) Schmitt, age 83, of Balltown, who passed away February 8, 2023. Helen was born on April 7, 1939, in Balltown, Iowa, and was united in marriage to Ronald Schmitt, on October 10, 1959, at St. Francis of Assisi Church. The couple have four wonderful children together and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2022.
Helen was a faith-filled woman who was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She volunteered countless hours at the parish taking care of anything that needed to be done. Helen had a strong work ethic, a trait she passed on to her children. She helped on the farm when she was young before going to work at Sorbo’s where she sewed baby clothes. She also drove school bus for the Western Dubuque School District for 24 years before officially retiring. Her community was very important to Helen.
